HOUSE DETAILS The house is a traditional winegrowers house built in 1850. This was first converted in the 1980's, with further improvements and extensions added more recently. The accommodation includes the original house with the adjoining wine store converted and added to the space available. The main structure is made of stone, on 3 floors with a tiled roof. The floors are either tiled or wood.
GARAGE This is not large enough for a car (or a very narrow one!), but provides invaluable storage space. It has double doors out to the street and an internal door to the office. The charming village of Fontcouverte is surrounded by pretty vineyards, and gentle slopes of the beautiful Corbières hills, 20 minutes to the Canal du Midi, and an hour to the famed Cathar village of Minerve astride the deep river gorges of the Minervois. Within 10 minutes drive there is a large supermarket. There are several golf courses all within 40 minutes drive from the village. Restaurants abound in the area, from gourmand to pizzeria.
Fontcouverte with a population of 500 has a general grocery store, newsagent, Post office, hairdressers, boulodrome and tennis court. It is a 10 minute drive to the local town of Lézignan Corbières where there is a full range of banking, shopping and restaurant facilities. The Mediterranean beaches are 30 minutes away. A number of good golf courses are within driving distance. The nearest is at Carcassonne….35 minutes. There is easy access to the region by TGV, motorway and by air using the airports of Carcassonne, Perpignan, Montpellier and Toulouse.
