The
Languedoc-Roussillon is a large area of southern France offering most
of the advantages of the better-known region of Provence, but without
the crowds. The climate of the southern Languedoc-Roussillon is Mediterranean,
with the same vegetation and proximity to the sea and the mountains
- the Pyrenees. This area, particularly the Roussillon, is influenced
by Spanish language and customs as Provence is by Italian culture.
